"During the last term, Trump was angry with the European Union because it took sides, but in support of Trump's opponents in the US, in favor of the opposition candidate. And it is not at all surprising that now the US supports far-right parties in the EU, supports the fall of the cordons sanitaires against them, and this leads to expectations that other coalitions will be formed, that other parties will come to power. All this affects the European elites in such a way that they have to demonstrate to their voters that they have some geopolitical relevance and can build immunity for independence from the United States, "the political scientist also says.
