The United States has notified Iran that it is "not involved" nor did they have information about the Israeli strike on a diplomatic compound in Syria, reports "Reuters", citing a US official.
Yesterday, Iranian state media indicated that the strike destroyed the building of the Iranian consulate in the southwestern part of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Subsequently, Tehran announced that two high-ranking generals from the Iranian armed forces died as a result of the attack - the commander of the "Al Quds" Mohammed Reza Zahedi and his deputy Mohammed-Hadi Hadji-Rahim, as well as five other officials.
After the attack by the Iranian-backed Palestinian group "Hamas" on October 7 last year, Israel stepped up airstrikes in Syria against "Hezbollah", which is also supported by Tehran.
