The US is considering sending more military advisers to Ukraine, but no solution yet.
This was stated by Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder, quoted by AFP.
"The matter of additional advisers is under consideration. "No decision has been made yet," Ryder said at a briefing.
"We are aware of the danger. Wherever our forces operate, we take the necessary precautions to ensure their safety," he added.
Ryder noted that several US military advisers are already in Ukraine. "This small number of advisers provide information and advice on issues such as logistics, arms control, help ensure news monitoring," Ryder emphasized.
Ryder stressed that military advisers are not involved in combat operations in Ukraine.
Last week, Ryder told Politico that the US was considering sending additional military advisers to the US embassy in Kiev.
"During this conflict, the Department of Defense is reviewing and adjusting our presence in the country as security conditions change.
We are currently considering sending several additional advisers to supplement the Defense Cooperation Office at the embassy,'' Ryder said.
The service "performs various advisory and assistance missions of a non-military nature", a Pentagon spokesman explained.
Official sources of the publication note that the new advisers will help the Ukrainian military in the maintenance of American weapons.
Ryder declined to discuss the specific number of military personnel at the embassy, citing "operational security" considerations. However, two US officials said the number of advisers would reach 60.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden promised that the US military would not be involved in the conflict in Ukraine "because it would increase the risk of direct confrontation between US and Russian forces".
