The Israeli military operation in Rafah city in the southern part of the Gaza Strip will begin in the next few days. This was stated by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, quoted by TASS.
He made his comments during a special session of the World Economic Forum held in Riyadh.
Abbas specified that it was only a matter of time before Israel launched the offensive in Rafah. According to him, a limited strike will be enough to force the Palestinians to leave the territory.
If this happens, the world will witness the biggest humanitarian catastrophe in Palestinian history, given that neighboring Arab countries Egypt and Jordan have refused to accept Palestinian refugees, the Palestinian president stressed.
Abbas called on the US to influence Israel and force it to abandon the Rafah offensive.
