Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained in Kiev pro-Russian hackers who created fake accounts of the heads of the Ukrainian special services, writes the Russian service of the BBC.
The SBU announced that it had liquidated bot farms in Kiev involved in information sabotage for the benefit of Russian intelligence. Two organizers have been detained, who spread disinformation on a massive scale about the war in Ukraine.
According to the available information, the hackers created fake accounts on social networks and messengers, in particular on behalf of the chairman of the Security Service and the head of the General Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense.
To create the appearance of "real" pages, these accounts reposted official messages from the SBU and the Central Intelligence Agency. Fake pages of Ukrainians from different regions are also registered on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Tik-Tok, as well as on Russian Odnoklassniki and Vkontakte. The organizers generated more than a thousand fake accounts every day, which they managed using specialized computers.
The attackers coordinated their actions with representatives of Russian intelligence, from whom they received "manuals" for carrying out subversive activities, reports SBU.
Unregistered firearms with ammunition and live grenades were also seized from the detainees.
