The US ambassador Lynn Tracy has left Russia for some time, the deputy minister of foreign affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Ryabkov, quoted by TASS.
"Yes, as far as we know, Ambassador Tracy has left Russia for some time," he said, answering the question of whether the head of the American diplomatic mission is really not in Moscow at the moment, "That is what we were told by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
"There is a charche d'affaires of the US in Russia, therefore, as I understand, including from the State Department announcement yesterday, her presence will not be scheduled at today's ceremony (inauguration of President Vladimir Putin)", Ryabkov added.
The EU ambassador and the representative of the United Kingdom will not attend the inauguration of Russian President Vladimir Putin, writes Reuters.
"Our ambassador will not attend the ceremony", the agency quoted EU foreign policy spokesman Peter Stano as saying.
The British Foreign Office also said the country would not send a representative to Putin's inauguration. A similar statement was made by Canada.
Earlier, the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, opposed the participation of representatives of the European Union in the inauguration of the Russian president. A number of European countries have announced a boycott of the ceremony. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan will not attend it either.
