Britain's opposition Labor Party has extended its lead in opinion polls over Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's Conservatives by 30 points, according to a YouGov poll for the Times newspaper.
The survey, which comes ahead of an election later this year, put Labor on 48% and the ruling Conservatives on 18%, the worst performance for Sunak since he became prime minister 18 months ago, according to the Times.

The gap between the two parties was the biggest since October 2022, when support for the Conservatives collapsed in the weeks following the financial collapse caused by Sunak's predecessor Liz Truss.
This is the first survey since last week's local and mayoral elections, which saw heavy losses for the Conservatives.
A previous YouGov/Times poll published on May 2 gave Labor a 26-point lead.
Polls have consistently put Labor around a 20-point lead over the Conservatives ahead of the election, which Sunak said he expects to call in the second half of the year.
The Conservatives have been in government, in coalition or on their own, since 2010, a tenure largely marred by the vote to leave the European Union and the scandal surrounding the handling of the COVID crisis.
During this time, the country has had five different Prime Ministers.
