"Hezbollah" warned the residents of Northern Israel: You will never return home! - 1

Residents of northern Israel will not be able to return home for the start of the next school year if their government continues with its offensive in the Gaza Strip.

This was stated on Monday by the head of the Lebanese armed group "Hezbollah", quoted by "Reuters".

"Hezbollah" fighting against the Israeli army across Lebanon's southern border alongside the Gaza war. It simultaneously supports its ally, the Palestinian armed group "Hamas", but also wants to prevent Israel from launching an attack on Lebanon.

In a televised address on Monday, Nasrallah reiterated that his group will continue to fight as Israel continues its assault on Gaza.

"The link between the supportive Lebanese Front and Gaza is final, definitive and conclusive, he said. No one will be able to disable them."

The fighting has displaced tens of thousands of people on both sides of the border and raised fears of a wider war between the heavily armed rivals.

Israel has said it wants to ensure residents return home to the north either through a diplomatically brokered deal or a military attack on Lebanon. Families displaced from northern Israel had hoped to return home by September 1 for the start of the school year.

Nasrallah addressed the displaced on Monday, saying: "if you want to solve the problem, go to your government and tell them to stop the war on Gaza.

Efforts by Egypt and Qatar to secure a ceasefire in Gaza failed last week after Israel effectively rejected the plan by international mediators.

On Monday, Israeli forces pushed deep into the ruins of Gaza's northern edge to retake an area where they claimed to have routed "Hamas" months ago, while in the south tanks and troops surged across a highway into Rafah.

The Israeli military also continued strikes against Lebanon over the weekend and into Monday, security sources said. "Hezbollah" responded with rocket fire, and Nasrallah said his group "continues to develop its operations in quantity and quality".

The fighting between Israel and "Hezbollah" mark their worst hostilities since they went to war in 2006.

"Hezbollah" has repeatedly said it will cease fire when the Israeli offensive in Gaza stops, but is also ready to continue the fight if Israel continues to attack Lebanon.
