Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico remembers the circumstances surrounding the assassination attempt on him on May 15. This was announced to the TV channel TA3 by President Peter Pellegrini after his visit to the hospital.
"He remembers everything, Pellegrini said, He is amazed how quickly it happened."
The prime minister was conscious when he was taken to doctors, and he remembers, according to the newly elected president, how he was given first aid. Pellegrini was able to speak with Fico for a few minutes on Thursday.
"His condition is still very serious," he added.
Pellegrini added that after the elections he felt a huge tension between the young and the older generation. "I was really surprised by that. I have been in politics for 20 years, but I have not seen such hatred for a long time," he admitted.
We remind you that the police in Slovakia charged the suspect for the shooting of Prime Minister Fico.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
Fico was shot in the chest and abdomen in the mining town of Handlova after an adjourned cabinet meeting.
The shooter is Juraj Chintula, 71, a self-described writer who previously worked as a security guard and is believed to be linked to the pro-Russian group "Slovak Defenders".
The 59-year-old Slovak prime minister is in a stable but serious condition. He regained consciousness after an operation that lasted several hours.
