Israel Strikes Central Gaza: At Least 11 Dead - 1

Israeli strikes killed 11 people overnight, including a woman and three children, in central Gaza, the Associated Press and BTA reported, citing Palestinian health authorities.

A strike on a house in the Burej refugee camp late last night killed four people, including three children. The second strike, carried out early today, killed seven people, including a woman, in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The Israeli military said it had found the body of a man believed to be a hostage.

US President Joe Biden said on Friday that Israel had offered Hamas a three-stage ceasefire and hostage release deal, saying it was time to end the fighting in Gaza because Hamas was "no longer capable" of carrying out another large-scale attack on Israel.

Israel is expanding its offensive in the southern Gaza city of Rafah, once a major hub for humanitarian aid operations. The Israeli invasion has largely cut off the flow of food, medicine and other supplies to Palestinians, who face widespread famine. Israel has faced growing international criticism over the huge civilian toll and widespread destruction caused by its nearly eight-month war with Hamas.

Israeli bombing and ground operations in Gaza have killed more than 36,000 Palestinians, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between fighters and civilians in its statistics.

Israel began its war in Gaza after a Hamas attack on October 7, in which militants invaded southern Israel. They killed about 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted about 250. Israel claims that about 100 hostages are still being held in Gaza, as well as the bodies of about 30 others.
