The Greek island of Crete experienced a series of earthquakes that began shortly before 09:00 local time. Initially, two earthquakes of magnitude 3.7 and 3.1 on the Richter scale were registered. Shortly after, seismologists from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) detected two additional earthquakes of magnitude 4.1 and 3.2, reports Focus.
The strongest earthquake in this series was located 23 kilometers south-southeast of Heraklion, the main administrative center of Crete, and 13 kilometers southeast of Ano Archanes. Another significant tremor with a magnitude of 3.7 was recorded at 08:57 local time. Its epicenter was found 54 kilometers southeast of Heraklion and 27 kilometers southeast of Assimion, at a depth of 10 kilometers.
There are currently no reports of injuries or significant damage. The situation is being closely monitored by local authorities and EMSC.
