Drone strikes Israeli PM's home, spokesman confirms - 1

The Israeli government said a drone strike hit Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's home this morning, but no one was injured, the Associated Press reported, BTA reported.

The attack came after Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei vowed that "Hamas" would continue its fight against Israel after the killing of the "architect" of last year's deadly Oct. 7 attacks, Yahya Sinwar. Sirens sounded in many parts of Israel this morning in warning of an airstrike from Lebanon, including a drone targeting Netanyahu's home in Caesarea, the Israeli government said. Neither he nor his wife were there at the time of the attack and no damage was caused, a government spokesman said.

In September, Yemeni Houthi rebels fired a ballistic missile at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport as Netanyahu's plane was landing there. The missile was intercepted before it could explode. Israel's war with the Lebanon-based group Hezbollah has escalated in recent weeks. Yesterday, Hezbollah said it planned to start a new phase of hostilities by launching more guided missiles and explosive drones against Israel.

The group's longtime leader, Hassan Nasrallah, was killed in an Israeli air strike in late September, and Israel launched a ground operation in Lebanon in early October. Israel also said it had killed a deputy commander of Hezbollah in the southern town of Bint Jbeil. The army said Nasser Rashid had led the attacks on Israel.

Lebanon's health ministry said two people were killed in their car when it was hit by an Israeli strike on a highway north of Beirut this morning. Fighting between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas in the Gaza Strip also continued, with both sides refusing to sign a ceasefire following the death of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar this week. More than 50 people, including children, have been killed there in the past 24 hours, hospital health workers told the AP.

Yesterday, Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Sinwar's death was a painful loss, but noted that "Hamas" would continue to fight despite the killings of other Palestinian militant leaders before him. "The Hamas movement is alive and will remain alive," Khamenei stressed.
