The head of the office of the President of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said that the Kremlin is using a fake transit scheme that allows the delivery of sanctioned goods to Russia from EU countries destined for Central Asia and the Caucasus region, reports "Reuters".
"Intermediary companies are used to obtain dual-use Western electronic components. Fictitious companies are also being created to form a "shadow fleet" from liquefied natural gas tankers and transportation of liquefied natural gas," Ermak wrote on his Telegram channel, noting that Russian weapons contain Western components.
"The Shadow Fleet" represent vessels that circumvent sanctions restrictions imposed on Russian oil and petroleum products. The total number of sanctioned oil tankers has reached 43, the British Foreign Office notes.
In April this year, the BBC's Russian Service found that Russian shipyards under international sanctions were receiving parts from European countries with the help of companies from Croatia and Italy. These shipyards also build ships for the Russian Navy, which were seen in the war with Ukraine.
