Senior representatives of NATO are slowly approaching the idea that the peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia is late. This is stated by the European correspondent of the British television Sky News.
Analyzing Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte's recent statements on the prospects for peace in Ukraine, Parsons concludes that the process of moving towards peace is "much more tenuous" than officials have publicly indicated.
"Behind the scenes, there is a slow and gradual realization that an agreement must be reached, however unpleasant it may be,”, notes Parsons.
According to the journalist, no one in NATO believes that it is realistic for Moscow to agree to return to Kiev all the territories it captured during the full-scale war. This makes reaching a peaceful settlement very difficult.
"It is not just about large areas - these are gray areas, areas of negotiation. The most important thing is that behind the scenes it is increasingly realized that an agreement will have to be concluded, and for some people in Ukraine this can be a very painful deal,”, adds the journalist.
