Two of the future US aircraft carriers will be named after former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. This was announced by US President Joe Biden, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
Biden, whose term ends in less than a week, said that construction of these warships will begin in the coming years. The US Navy now has 11 aircraft carriers - more than any other country. By comparison, there are a total of 25 such ships in active service around the world, with China in second place with three.
Most US presidents since World War II have an aircraft carrier named after them. Nuclear-powered aircraft carriers are a key element of the US Navy.
