The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) has detained two Russian agents who coordinated Russian missile and drone strikes on southern regions of Ukraine, Ukrinform reported, citing information from the SSU.
One of the suspects is a 20-year-old resident of the Odessa region, from Tatarbunary, where he was captured, the Ukrainian news agency reports, citing materials on the case.
The Russians recruited him remotely via the "Telegram" application, offering him "easy money".
The twenty-year-old Ukrainian was tasked with collecting geolocations of Ukrainian checkpoints, mobile fire groups, and anti-aircraft missile systems.
He involved his subversive activity to his acquaintance, a 15-year-old resident of Voznesensk in the Nikolaev region, in order to spy on a larger number of objects at the same time.
The suspects patrolled the regions of the two southern regions and secretly recorded the location of the Ukrainian defense forces, the investigation found.
The twenty-year-old suspect marked the coordinates of potential targets on "Google Maps" and sent them to his Russian coordinator via messenger.
SSU officers detained the "main" suspected in Tatarbunary, Odessa region, in an attempt to transmit intelligence information.
His mobile phone, through which he communicated with his Russian coordinator, was seized at the scene.
The perpetrator is in custody, facing life imprisonment with confiscation of property, Ukrinform also reports.
He is suspected of treason committed during martial law.
The issue of additional charges of involving a minor in criminal activity is currently being considered.
Procedural actions are also being conducted against the minor 15-year-old accomplice from the Nikolaev region.
