Belarusian Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzhenkov assessed the likelihood of escalation on the borders of the republic as high.

“Because who knows what someone will think“, he said in an interview with “Izvestia“.

The Foreign Minister noted that there are already relevant examples.

“They are shooting on the border, including from the Ukrainian side“, Ryzhenkov informed. He explained this by the fact that people are under constant psychological stress and depression.

“And the issue of provocation, not only controlled, but also accidental, is very high in such conditions“, warned the head of the diplomatic department.

The Foreign Minister described the situation along the borders of Belarus as quite complicated: provocations from the Ukrainian side continued, “very militarized actions“ were registered. from Poland, Lithuania and Latvia along the border with the republic.

Ryzhenkov noted that only in 2024 About 180 events of a training nature took place, including the use of heavy weapons in the border areas, in which over 150 thousand servicemen participated.

The State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, Alexander Volfovich, called the trends along the borders "disappointing", and the situation remained very tense.
