Jordan's King Abdullah II has been invited by US President Donald Trump to visit the White House on February 11, BTA reported. The letter of invitation was received last week, the Jordanian royal palace said.
The invitation comes as Trump has proposed relocating Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to Jordan and Egypt. Trump said Gazans could live in much safer areas and in a much more comfortable way. His proposal has drawn condemnation from the Middle East and Europe. Amman and Cairo firmly rejected the idea on Thursday. But Trump stressed that "we have helped them a lot and I am sure they will help us," referring to Amman and Cairo.
Jordan already hosts about 2.3 million Palestinian refugees.
Yesterday, the Jordanian king said that the Palestinians must remain on their land. He insisted that the legitimate rights of the Palestinians must be guaranteed in accordance with the solution of two states - Israeli and Palestinian - living side by side.
