China has from the very beginning supported resolving the crisis in Ukraine through dialogue and negotiations and welcomed efforts to achieve ceasefire as a necessary step towards peace, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning, quoted by Xinhua news agency, BTA reports.
Mao made the statement during a regular press conference in response to a request for comment on a phone call held yesterday between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
A White House statement said the two leaders agreed that the three-year conflict in Ukraine should end with a lasting peace, stressing the need to improve US-Russian relations.
