Peace should not be imposed in Ukraine, and any solution to the conflict must include the US, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in an interview with "Politico", published today and quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
"It is absolutely clear to me that there should be no solution that does not include the US", Scholz stressed. "The next task is to ensure that there is no imposed peace," he added.
His statement comes after US President Donald Trump held back-to-back phone calls with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday to discuss the war in Ukraine.
It was not clear whether Scholz's interview with Politico was conducted before or after the talks, Reuters noted.
