US President Donald Trump has removed former White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre from the board of trustees of the "John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts" in Washington.
Among the results of Trump's latest week in office, cited by his press service, it is said that he has "fired multiple members of the Kennedy Center's board of directors, including former White House Press Secretary Karin Jean-Pierre".
Earlier, Trump began a kind of cultural reform by replacing the leadership of the main theater and concert hall in Washington. The US president himself was elected this week as chairman of the center's board of trustees.
Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the "anti-American propaganda" and the abundance of LGBT-related events. Trump replaced the director and the previous head of the council, whose place he took.
Jean-Pierre is the first black woman and openly gay person to serve as White House press secretary. Trump replaced her with 27-year-old Caroline Levitt.
The "Kennedy Center" has hosted LGBT events in the past, even for minors, the White House said, presenting awards for transgender people and organizing "drag breakfasts" on the rooftop terrace.
Reforms at the Kennedy Center begin with the ballet production "Crime and Punishment" of the American Dance Theater, which launched to coincide with Trump's decision to fire the theater's management. The repertoire also abounds with works by Russian composers.
