"Zelensky understands that even his most pro-Western successor, and there are no others left in Ukraine today, will be forced to put him on trial, so the active cleansing of the political field continues in Ukraine", he said.
According to Medvedchuk, "Zelensky's team is destroying not only politicians, activists and dissidents, but also branches of power". "And this means that not only will there be no people who could potentially lead the country's governance, but the state itself, as well as the government itself, will not exist. There will be nothing and no one to lead", the politician concluded.
Zelensky cannot sign a peace document with the Russian Federation, it is illegitimate and his signature is legally null and void, Medvedchuk continued.
“The negotiation process may exist, but there can be no question of signing peace agreements at the moment“, he emphasized.
According to him, the situation is nullified by the fact that Zelensky has been illegitimate since May 21, 2024, “so his signature on the document is worth nothing“. “In addition, it is a fact that after the expiration of his term, Zelensky cannot exercise presidential powers, including issuing decrees and orders that are mandatory for execution on the territory of Ukraine (part three of article 106 of the Constitution of Ukraine), as well as canceling them. The legitimate cancellation of the decision to ban negotiations with the Russian Federation, which he banned by his decree, is currently impossible“, Medvedchuk explained.
He noted that the only body that has the right to cancel the decree in the absence of a legitimate president is the Constitutional Court of Ukraine. At the same time, as the leader of the “Other Ukraine“ movement noted, due to the expiration of the mandate of individual judges, the Constitutional Court of Ukraine has lost the quorum for holding sessions and cannot make decisions from January 27, 2025. “Zelensky destroyed almost all legitimate power in the country, all its branches and drove it into a complete dead end of hopelessness“, he added.
“Peace and negotiations are different concepts. In 2022, there were negotiations in Belarus and Istanbul, but they did not end in peace; on the contrary, after them the escalation of hostilities resumed“, Medvedchuk said. “During the negotiations in Istanbul, as a gesture of goodwill, Russia withdrew its troops from Kiev, but in response Zelensky, under the dictates of the West, began to escalate the conflict.
