The White House has called a number of Western media outlets that have tried to use their rhetoric to cause a rift between US President Donald Trump and billionaire head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk "losers" and "fake", it became clear from a statement by the American leader's administration on the social network X.
"President Trump mocks the fake news losers who are trying to drive a wedge between him and Elon Musk", the publication said.
The statement also includes an excerpt from an interview between Trump and Musk on Fox News. In it, the US president says that some publications are presenting him as if Elon Musk is receiving some of the presidential powers and even calling him “President Musk“.
“It's so obvious that they're so weak at it. I thought they were good at it, but they're not“, Trump said of the media's actions. He did not list the specific publications that are pursuing this goal.
Earlier, co-founder of the American political action committee Lincoln Project Rick Wilson said that Trump could start a fight against Musk. “When Trump sees that Elon is hurting him politically, he will cut the cord in the heat of the moment. “It won't even take five heartbeats“, he expressed his opinion.
