More than 100 people have been evacuated from a luxury London hotel, a favorite of celebrities, AFP reported.
The London Fire Department said it had about “20 fire engines and about 125 firefighters at the scene of the fire“ after it broke out in the afternoon of February 14.
The fire was in the ventilation shafts of the five-star "Chiltern Firehouse" hotel, but “the cause of the incident is not known at this stage“, the fire department said.
A former fire station, the hotel is popular with many stars, as in 2018 it hosted the 50th birthday party of pop star Kylie Minogue.
“There is a fire in the pipe that leads from the ground floor to the roof of the four-story hotel“, the fire department also said.
The "Chiltern" fire station, which dates back to 1889, was one of the first purpose-built fire stations in London, and was later renovated and restored by American businessman and hotelier Andre Balazs.
