Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on Europe to draw up its own action plan for Ukraine and take steps for the continent's security, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

During his visit to Poland, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth warned that Europe should not expect the US military presence to last “forever“.

“Our message to our European allies is very clear: it is time to invest, because you cannot expect the US presence to last forever“, Hegseth said.

In response, Tusk stressed that Europe urgently needs an action plan for Ukraine and for European security.

“Otherwise, other global players will decide our future. And that will not necessarily be in our interest“, he warned.

“This plan must be drawn up now. We have no time to waste,” Tusk added in a post on the social network "Ex".

Tusk's position coincides with the statement of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who also stressed that Europe must act for „its own good“ and have its own armed forces to defend itself against Russia.

„From now on, things will be different and Europe must adapt to this. I believe in Europe and I call on you to act for your own good,“ Zelensky said during the Munich Security Conference.

„America will not offer security guarantees if Europe's own guarantees are not solid,“ he added.
