China said that all parties concerned by the conflict between Russia and Ukraine should participate in peace talks, emphasizing in particular Europe's role in these efforts, following a series of statements by the United States on possible ways to end the war, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

“We hope that all parties and stakeholders directly involved will join the peace talks in a timely manner“, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in his speech at the Munich Security Conference.“

“China views positively all efforts aimed at peace, including any consensus reached between the United States and Russia on peace talks“, Wang Yi said.“

He stressed that since the war is being fought on European soil, Europe must play a major role in achieving peace. "It should address the root causes of the crisis, find a balanced solution and build an effective and sustainable security framework, aiming at long-term peace and stability in Europe," the Chinese minister added.

Wang Yi also indicated that China is willing to strengthen strategic communication with the European Union, enhance mutual understanding and participate in efforts to achieve more stability in the world, expressing his position during a meeting with Kaia Kallas, the EU's foreign policy chief.

China has long supported dialogue and negotiations as the "only viable solution" to the Ukraine crisis. In May 2023, China and Brazil presented a six-point peace plan that called for the participation of both warring parties in peace talks. However, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the proposal, calling it an initiative that supports Moscow.

This week, the “Wall Street Journal“ reported that China had proposed a summit between Putin and Trump to find a solution to end the war in Ukraine.
