A 37-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter have died from their injuries after a car ploughed into a crowd of people in Munich two days ago. A total of 37 people were injured in the attack.
The perpetrator was arrested at the scene. According to police, he is a 24-year-old Afghan man seeking asylum in Germany.
According to German prosecutors, his motives were religious.
He chanted "Allahu Akbar" when he was arrested. He had regular residence and work permits, although his asylum application was rejected.
The attack took place 10 days before early parliamentary elections in Germany.
