Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that more than 100,000 people were left without heating in the southern port city of Nikolaev after Russian drones struck energy infrastructure today, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA.

"Those who want to restore peace and prepare for negotiations are not doing so," Zelensky said.

The Ukrainian president indicated that teams were actively working to restore heating in Nikolaev.

He called on Kiev's allies to react "sharply" and "work together to force Russia to make peace".

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal said that Russian drones damaged the "Mykolaiv" thermal power plant overnight.

"This was done deliberately to leave people without heating in sub-zero temperatures and to create a humanitarian disaster," he criticized the Russian attack.

Earlier, the governor of the Mykolaiv region, Vitaly Kim, said that the attack had caused a fire that was quickly brought under control.

He said that a 64-year-old man was injured in the bombing and hospitalized, and five residential buildings were damaged.

Russia frequently bombs Ukrainian energy infrastructure, causing power, gas and heating outages. Moscow denies this and claims that it is only targeting Ukrainian army structures, AFP recalls.
