A Slovenian man has lost €37,000 in a cryptocurrency scam, the Maribor police department reported, as quoted by regional television station En 1, BTA reported.
A citizen from the Maribor region, northeastern Slovenia, reportedly received a call saying that he had funds in his account and that he could get them if he downloaded a remote access app. This allowed the unknown person on the other end of the line to access his online banking.
The fraudsters stole over €37,000 from his account in several transfers. Maribor police urge citizens not to fall for such calls, not to share sensitive information with strangers and not to download such apps.
