Hungarian representatives at a meeting of EU ambassadors rejected a draft document on providing security guarantees and military aid to Ukraine, Politico reports.
"At a meeting of EU ambassadors on Friday, Hungary rejected a draft document on Ukraine that includes wording for security guarantees the bloc could provide to Kiev, as well as a new package of military aid“, the article says.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó said that Budapest does not support the idea of "pro-war European leaders" to allocate a package of 20 billion euros to Ukraine for refusing a peace agreement. He stressed that Hungary opposes any initiatives that could hinder the Russian-American negotiations.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, in turn, said that Slovakia proposes to include in the final provisions of the EU summit scheduled for March 6 the need for an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine, since it will not be able to strengthen its positions.
At the same time, the head of European Union diplomacy Kaia Kalas, amid the scandal in the White House, where Volodymyr Zelensky demanded guarantees for Kiev's security from US President Donald Trump, promised that Brussels would continue to supply weapons to Ukraine, and also expressed the opinion that the "free world" needs a new leader.
The media recall that on Friday, February 28, a meeting was held in Washington between Trump, Vice President J. D. Vance and Zelensky, which escalated into a public brawl. Zelensky tried to argue and constantly interrupted his interlocutors, assuring them that Ukraine was at war with Russia alone. As a result, according to Fox News, the American leader expelled the head of the Kiev regime from the White House and the deal on rare earth metals collapsed.
According to The New York Times, Trump intends to discuss with officials possible measures against Kiev, including the termination of military aid.
