British Prime Minister Keir Starmer held a conversation with US President Donald Trump last night, Starmer's spokesman said, quoted by "Reuters", BTA reports.
The spokesman declined to comment on whether Trump informed Starmer of his intention to withhold military aid to Ukraine during the conversation.
“The Prime Minister and President Trump are focused on the same outcome - achieving a secure and lasting peace in Ukraine,“ the spokesman said.
Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner stressed that the Prime Minister would not be “blinded or distracted“ in its peace efforts.
Today, Rainer said the UK government remained fully focused on securing lasting peace for Kiev and would not “deflect“ from those efforts.
“We are absolutely committed to ensuring peace and security as part of that”, she said.
“We will not be deterred by external commentary – we will use our strong relationship with the US and our European allies to support Ukraine and President Zelensky in reaching a peace agreement and providing security guarantees.“
