French-Hungarian relations are stable and developing in a positive direction, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, quoted by the Hungarian MTI agency. He stressed that cooperation between the two countries is close both politically and economically, BTA reports.

After his meetings with French President Emmanuel Macron, the leader of the “National Rally“ Marine Le Pen and former head of state Nicolas Sarkozy, Orban expressed his expectation that France will remain an active economic partner and investor in Hungary.

“All three presidents – the former, the current and the future – "are unanimous in not wanting a United States of Europe," Orban said.

He stressed that both France and Hungary share a strong national identity and will not allow Brussels to become a superpower that limits their sovereignty.

“France is France – everyone here is patriotic. Hungary is Hungary – and everyone, except the left-wing opposition, is patriotic. That is why there will always be an agreement that we will not subordinate our independence to anyone, including Brussels,” the Hungarian prime minister stressed.
