Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky outlined his vision of how he believes peace can be achieved in Ukraine at a summit in Luxembourg, Sky News reports.
The Ukrainian leader said a ceasefire including no attacks on energy and civilian infrastructure and military operations in the Black Sea would be a good start.
"Everyone must ensure that Russia, the sole source of this war, accepts the need to end it''.
"This can be proven by two forms of silence: no attacks on energy and other civilian infrastructure, no missiles, bombs, long-range drones and no military operations in the Black sea.“
According to him, this, followed by the release of prisoners “could serve as a means of establishing basic trust“, which could then serve as a “prologue“ to “a full and fair agreement“.
This, Zelensky added, would lead “to a comprehensive agreement on security guarantees and an end to the war“.
“Not only is Ukraine ready to take the necessary steps for peace, but we are also proposing these steps“, he said.
Zelensky added that Ukrainian and American teams “have resumed work“ and he hoped that the two nations would have a “significant meeting“ next week.
