A majority of respondents in Britain, France, Germany and Poland believe it is possible for Russia to attack European countries in the coming years, according to a More in Common survey, the BBC reports, citing AFP.

60 percent of French people believe a Russian attack is likely. In Britain and Poland, 68 percent of respondents think so, and in Germany, 53 percent.

In addition, a majority of respondents in these countries believe that Ukraine should be supported. Of these, 66% are British and Poles, 57% are French and 54% are Germans.

At the same time, the issue of a possible peacekeeping operation by European countries in Ukraine receives less approval: for example, in France it is supported by 44%, in Germany - by 41%, and in Poland - by 27%. In the UK, 57 percent supported sending the contingent.

Earlier, French President Emmanuel Macron said that there was a “Russian threat“. According to him, the security of Europe is at risk. The politician called “madness“ the idea of remaining a mere observer in a “world of dangers“.
