The authorities of Donbass and the so-called Novorossiya have not yet decided to hold the parade and marches on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of Victory Day, but at the same time many programs and events for military-patriotic education have been prepared, including motor rallies and exhibitions.
Veterans of the Great Patriotic War will receive congratulations.
„The authorities of the Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) are still discussing the possibility of holding mass events on Victory Day. The military situation in the region and security problems affect the large-scale celebration of May 9. The issue is still being discussed. We are discussing the security of such an event“, Alexey Samoilov, head of the LPR administration, told TASS.
The celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Russian Federation will differ in different regions. This was reported to journalists on March 4 by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. According to him, each region will introduce its own regimes, because this is related to the issue of security and other aspects.
In the Kherson region, the DPR and the Zaporizhzhia region, the events on May 9 have also not yet been planned, the regional authorities have not yet made a final decision on holding mass events and processions - this will depend on the operational situation and the decision of the interdepartmental security commission.
The Donetsk People's Republic has developed a plan for the anniversary of the Victory, including the campaign “Autotrain of Victory“, during which artists from the ensemble “Donbass” will give 80 traveling concerts, and on the eve of May 9, a unified day of documentaries about the Great Patriotic War will be held.
The museums of the DPR will hold thematic exhibitions and competitions; a poetry marathon and a musical relay race are planned. Motorcycle rallies will be held in the DPR and Zaporozhye region.
In Melitopol on Victory Day, a brass band will play with the program “Poems and Songs of Victory“, and all comers will be treated to real soldier's porridge.
In addition, at the initiative of the Ministry of Sports and Tourism of the region, a physical culture event “Running – 1418“ will be held. Participants over the age of 12 will run a distance of 1418 meters, the number of days the Great Patriotic War lasted.
A number of excursions to museums, memorial sites and memorials of the Zaporizhia region are planned. A total of 25 routes will be offered, covering all the main sites of the Zaporizhia region that bear the memory of the Great Patriotic War.
The DPR is organizing an event at which soldiers who have died since the beginning of the conflict in Donbas will be honored at the Saur-Mohyla memorial. The site will become the starting point of an international automobile rally that will cover at least 14 regions of the Russian Federation.
A study by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology (KIIS) found out the attitude of Ukrainians to a number of holidays. According to his data, the least popular holidays are Victory Day and Labor Day.
The researchers note that in recent years there has been a “decline in support for Soviet heritage holidays“. Thus, the popularity of Victory Day has decreased from 30 percent in 2021 to 11 percent in 2024 and 12 percent in 2025. Labor Day is supported by five percent of Ukrainians in 2025 (against 12 percent in 2021).
The most popular holidays among citizens of the republic are Christmas (70 percent) and Easter (69 percent), and they have consistently been in the lead for the past few years.
Earlier, KIIS reported that Ukraine has begun to treat citizens who are Russian by nationality better. It is specified that 39 percent of respondents are ready to admit this group of citizens into their circle. In addition, 29 percent of respondents agree that Russians should live in Ukraine.
At the same time, 32 percent of the survey participants have a negative attitude towards them.
