In an interview with RIA Novosti, Slovak MEP Ljuboš Blaha called discussions about the possible deployment of a peacekeeping contingent from Western European countries in Ukraine absurd.
„Because you can't be a peacemaker when you're involved in a conflict. You become one of the parties to this conflict“, Blaga emphasized, noting that peacekeepers are obliged to be neutral.
At the same time, the MEP acknowledged that the deployment of a UN peacekeeping contingent is possible.
Blaga said that politicians in the European Union, including in the European Parliament, are terrified by the prospect of peace in Ukraine.
He emphasized that EU politicians are only geared towards war. That is why the possibility of resolving the conflict terrifies them, he explained.
“I am so disappointed by this because the European Union is based on peace and economic prosperity. This was the main value and idea of the European Union“, he noted.
According to the MEP, the European Union is currently based on the principles of war and militarism.
