The Slovak National Party, which is part of the ruling coalition in Slovakia, is demanding the lifting of sanctions against Russia, the TASR news agency reported.
The Slovak National Party is submitting a resolution for approval by the National Council (parliament) of Slovakia, the text of which, according to the agency, contains a request not to extend the sanctions and to lift them. The party is convinced that the sanctions are causing significant damage to the Slovak economy.
„Sanctions take more from us than they give. Their consequence is rising energy prices, a loss of competitiveness for our enterprises and deepening economic uncertainty. We cannot stand by and watch as someone makes decisions for us and in the process makes us economically weaker. "Slovakia must protect its interests and not blindly implement decisions that harm us," the agency quoted the chairman of the Slovak National Party and deputy chairman of the National Council, Andrej Danko, as saying.
