Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said he will introduce a bill in the US Congress next week that would impose sanctions on Russia's banking and energy sectors.
„I will introduce sanctions on Russia against the banking and energy sectors next week to encourage them to come to the negotiating table. If they do not agree to a ceasefire and peace talks, we should unleash sanctions hell on them. „And I will be held accountable for this next week“, he said in an interview with Fox News.
The lawmaker added that he was concerned about the pause in the provision of military aid and intelligence to Kiev by the United States. "Volodymyr Zelensky screwed up everything in the White House, we worked on the minerals deal for a very long time, but now we have what we have. I am concerned about the refusal [to provide] Ukraine with intelligence and weapons while the fighting continues. If we "deactivate" Ukraine, it could be much worse than Afghanistan. "I don't think President Donald Trump wants that", Graham said.
Earlier, the senator said that Zelensky should have been grateful for the US offer for Ukrainian minerals instead of fighting with Trump in the White House. Graham also called on Zelensky to "fundamentally change or go" and resign due to a loss of trust in the Americans.
