Trump: Ukraine is not showing enough that it wants peace. I want it to!

US President Donald Trump said he expects good results from US talks with Ukrainian representatives in Saudi Arabia, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

The US president told reporters that his administration had almost lifted the pause in intelligence sharing with Ukraine, that it was considering a number of options regarding tariffs on Russia and that he was not concerned about military exercises involving Russia, China and Iran.

“I believe we will make a lot of progress this week“, Trump said.

When asked if he would end the pause in intelligence sharing with Ukraine, Trump replied: “We almost did. We almost did it“.

The US president also said that he believes Ukraine will sign a rare earths agreement with the US.

“I want them to want peace“, Trump said. “They haven't shown it to the extent they should“, he added.

Trump also said that “probably“ there will be no shutdown of the US government and that he believes the House of Representatives will be able to muster a majority to pass a bill to fund the government by September 30.

“It could happen, it shouldn't happen and it probably won't happen“, Trump said in response to a question about whether there would be a shutdown of the government this week.
