American billionaire Elon Musk stressed the importance of his satellite system “Starlink“ for Ukrainian troops fighting Russia, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.
The “Starlink“ system “ is the backbone of the Ukrainian army. Their entire front line will collapse if I turn it off,“ Musk wrote in a post in “Ex“ last night.
Referring to the war, Musk wrote that he was tired of the years “of slaughter“ and stated that Ukraine would lose in the end anyway, so it was necessary to make peace immediately.
Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski responded to Musk's post, writing in “Ex“ that his government would cover Ukraine's costs for “Starlink“ in the amount of $50 million per year.
“If “SpaceX“ proves to be an unreliable supplier, we will be forced to look for other suppliers,“ he warned.
Sikorski's comments provoked an angry reaction from Musk.
The billionaire replied: “Shut up, little man. You are only paying a small part of the costs“. There is no substitute for „Starlink“, Musk added.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also attacked Sikorski, accusing the Polish foreign minister of „just talking nonsense“.
„Nobody has made threats to cut Ukraine off „Starlink“, Rubio said.
„And say „thank you“, because without „Starlink“ Ukraine would have lost this war a long time ago and the Russians would be on the Polish border right now“, the top US diplomat added.
In another post, Musk said that despite his extreme disagreement with the policy towards Ukraine, „Starlink“ will never turn off its terminals.
“We would never do such a thing or use it as a bargaining chip“, the billionaire added.
