A new round of talks between Russia and the US may be held in Saudi Arabia this week. This was reported by the CNN television company, citing its sources.
According to their information, representatives of the US administration will hold meetings in the coming days not only with Ukrainian, but also with Russian officials. It is not specified who exactly will participate in the talks.
US President Donald Trump earlier said that "various negotiations" would be held in Saudi Arabia and that as a result he expects "great progress" in resolving the Ukrainian conflict.
Earlier, US President's special envoy Stephen Witkoff said he hoped to discuss a framework for a potential ceasefire and peace agreement at a meeting with Kiev authorities in Jeddah on March 11.
Volodymyr Zelensky initially said he would not participate in the meeting but would travel to Saudi Arabia, and the Ukrainian delegation will include his chief of staff Andriy Yermak, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibikha and Defense Minister Rustem Umerov. The US side will be represented by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US National Security Advisor Mike Walz and Witkoff.
