Ukraine has carried out a deliberate drone attack on Moscow on the eve of the visit of the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) to the Russian capital, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
“This is not the first time that a visit to Moscow by a high-ranking foreign delegation has been accompanied by a drone attack by the Ukrainian armed forces“, Zakharova wrote on “Telegram“.
“Last night, Kiev again sent drones against the Russian capital at a time when the OSCE Secretary General was visiting there“, she added.
Russian authorities will take the visiting OSCE head, Feridun Sinirlioglu, to the site in Moscow where Ukrainian drones were shot down, Zakharova said.
She stressed that last night's attack was intended to demonstrate to the foreign delegation, not on paper, but in practice, what the authorities in Kiev are like.
The OSCE is the largest regional security organization, with 57 member states from North America, Europe and Asia, Reuters specifies.
Asked about media reports about an upcoming visit by the US special envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, to Moscow for a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Zakharova said that contacts between Russia and the United States are currently intensive. She added that the massive Ukrainian drone attacks prove Kiev's impotence and that Russia is advancing on the battlefield.
The Russian Defense Ministry reported that Russian air defenses destroyed or intercepted 337 Ukrainian drones over various Russian regions, including 91 over the Moscow region, Reuters notes.
