Kremlin urges Russians not to be fooled by new moves by US, Ukraine - 1

The Kremlin has warned Russians not to view the latest actions of US President Donald Trump's administration towards Ukraine "through rose-colored glasses", Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

In a speech to the Higher School of Economics in Moscow today, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov urged people not to admire the prospect of Elon Musk cutting off the Ukrainian army from access to the Starlink communications system or Trump's decision last week to stop military aid to Kiev.

"Don't rush to put on rose-colored glasses", Peskov told the audience. "We should always hope for the best, but also be prepared for the worst. And we must always be ready to defend our interests."

Peskov issued the warning as U.S. and Ukrainian delegations met in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, part of efforts to determine whether Ukraine was ready to make concessions to Russia to end the war, Reuters noted.

Peskov said Russia was achieving its goals on the battlefield in Ukraine regardless of U.S. decisions. He noted that the amount of weapons circulating in Ukraine was so large that Kiev had enough resources to continue fighting for many months, even after U.S. supplies were cut off.
