The proposals to deploy a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine look like attempts to save the Kiev regime, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said on March 11, quoted by "Izvestia", reports Focus.
„Peacekeepers are the subject of much discussion at the moment. But what will they protect? The remnants of the Kiev Nazi regime? "All this looks like an attempt to save the last remnants of this regime by deploying peacekeeping forces," Lavrov said at a press conference after meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Feridun Sinirlioglu.
The Russian Foreign Minister stressed that the priority should be the abolition of anti-Russian laws in Ukraine, not the deployment of peacekeeping forces.
He added that the process of peaceful settlement of the conflict had not yet begun. According to Lavrov, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has clearly shown that he does not want a ceasefire until he receives guarantees of military support from the United States.
"All this is frivolous for now," Lavrov concluded.
