White House after Jeddah meeting: Trump put Zelensky in his place - 1

US President Donald Trump put Volodymyr Zelensky in his place and explained to him that Washington is serious about a long-term peace agreement in Ukraine.

This was reported by White House press secretary Caroline Leavitt.

„He is the chief negotiator and he put Zelensky in his place and told him that the Americans are serious about a long-term peace agreement. And we are very, very pleased with the deal that we made today /ed. yesterday/ with the Ukrainians. And we hope that it will last a long time and forever – "That's President Trump's goal and we hope we can achieve that goal," she told Fox News.

Leavitt noted that she had not received information about Russia's reaction to the agreements that were discussed in Jeddah between the United States and Ukraine.

"I have not been informed about that. I know that Secretary of State Rubio and National Security Advisor Mike Walz are working very hard on this. The president is obviously very engaged in this work. He was briefed all day today on the situation that is developing in Saudi Arabia," she added.

On Tuesday, US-Ukrainian talks were held in Jeddah, after which a joint statement was issued. It said that the parties had agreed to conclude a comprehensive agreement soon on the development of critical mineral resources. Kiev confirmed its readiness to accept Washington's proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in the conflict with Russia. In turn, the United States promised to immediately resume providing intelligence and military support to Ukraine.
