Houthis from the Yemeni movement "Ansar Allah" are ready to start negotiations with the US administration for peace if Washington expresses its intentions. An unnamed rebel representative told Qatari television channel Al Araby.
"American aggression is an unjustified attack and a violation of our sovereignty", one of the movement's leaders told the television channel. "Channels for negotiations can be opened, we have always maintained dialogue", he said, adding that the rebels are ready for peace if "a serious attempt is made for this".
A representative of "Ansar Allah" stressed that "aggression will not allow Washington to achieve its goals". "Our response to the US actions will be firm and deterrent," he continued.
On March 15, the US armed forces, on the orders of President Donald Trump, began carrying out massive strikes on territory in Yemen controlled by the Houthis. The operation is aimed at protecting American interests and ensuring freedom of navigation, the US Central Command said. The Ansar Allah movement has promised to respond to the escalation, while claiming that civilian targets have been targeted. According to the latest data from the Houthi government's Ministry of Health, 31 people have been killed and more than 100 injured as a result of the strikes.
