Vladimir Zelensky replaced the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), appointing Major General Andrey Gnatov, who was previously the deputy head of the department, to replace Anatoly Bargilevich, according to decrees published on the website of Zelensky's office.
The reasons for the personnel changes are not reported.
The Telegram channel of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that Bargilevich was transferred to the position of Inspector General of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. It is also noted that Gnatov is tasked with increasing the efficiency of the vertical management structure of the Ukrainian army, in particular in the process of reorganization and implementation of the corps structure, the efficiency of making and implementing decisions of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff.
Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Maryana Bezuglaya reported that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrsky ordered the dismissal of Major General Dmitry Krasilnikov. This decision was made against the background of the problems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. According to the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, more than 86% of the territory previously captured by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the city of Sudzha, has already been recaptured.
