The bill approved today by the Bundestag (the lower house of the German parliament) to reform Germany's debt rules, which will allow billions of euros of financing for defense and infrastructure to revive economic growth, is excellent news, French President Emmanuel Macron said in the German capital, Berlin, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
The reform marks the beginning of a new era in Europe's collective defense, the agency added. Macron arrived in Berlin for a meeting with outgoing German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
“I want to congratulate you on the historic vote in the Bundestag, which is good news for Germany and good news for Europe, because it will allow more to be done on defense and investment,“ Macron told reporters during a joint press conference with Scholz.
