Russia is preparing for confrontation with EU countries, while the United States shifts its attention to the Indo-Pacific region, said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
"Russia has expanded its capacity to produce military-industrial goods. These investments not only support the war in Ukraine, but also prepare Moscow for future confrontation with European democracies," von der Leyen said in a speech at the Royal Military Academy in Copenhagen.
She stressed that Europe must rearm by 2030. "Readiness 2030" means building an industrial defense base, which is a strategic advantage. We need to take action now to be ready by 2030," she added.
Responding to US President Donald Trump's remarks on Greenland, von der Leyen stressed that the EU will always support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of individual countries.
Trump has repeatedly stated that Washington plans to take control of Greenland, which is an autonomous territory of Denmark. However, authorities in Greenland and Denmark have repeatedly stated that the territory is not for sale.
