A 41-year-old man was arrested in Burgas, sitting behind the wheel with 4.33 per mille of alcohol. The man had difficulty staying seated in the driver's seat and almost fell to the ground when trying to open the door. During the check, it turned out that he did not have a license, Nova TV reports. The driver was stopped around noon on Monday by a patrol in the area of the “Georgi Benkovski” Primary School in the “Zornitsa” complex, after the police noticed a car that was winding along the road.
“When a stop signal was given, the man abruptly pressed the brake and started to get out of the car. At that moment, the car went backwards and hit the curb. The driver was not adequate. He was clearly intoxicated - he smelled strongly of alcohol and spoke slurredly," Ivan Kolarov, commander of a department in the 5th police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Burgas, told "Zdravei, Bulgaria".
According to him, the breathalyzer showed 4.33 per mille in the exhaled air. "The check showed that the driver had never had a license and had other acts in which he was caught driving without a license," Kolarov emphasized.

“The man explained that he had not sobered up for nearly two years and that he drinks two bottles of brandy a day," said Kostadin Karabonikov, a police officer in the 5th police department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs - Burgas.

The driver was detained for 24 hours. He refused to give a blood sample for analysis after being taken to the Burgas University Hospital for examination. “He told us that he worked in the construction sector. He did not have a permanent job. The car was not seized because it was not his property. Only the license plates and the second part of the registration card were removed. The driver explained that he wanted to move the car to a neighboring block in the "Zornitsa" complex. We have not been able to talk to the owner,” explained Kolarov.
